Catatan Perjalanan ke Karimun Jawa (part II)

14 April 2014

Today we went to west. I got very ready, so did the tools :D
The tools were prepared by the tour guide

The ship left the harbor at 09.00. I was ready for the next experiences.
We did the first snorkeling beside Manjangan besar.

The fish went near, because we gave them bread

But do not get wrong with the small and beautiful fish.
My lips was swelling, when i did snorkeling.
The tour guide said that it was caused by the fish fin

Just be careful when you did snorkeling there :)





After doing snorkeling, we went to Batu Topeng Island

Actually my friend had the more beautiful photos of the island, but let me share next time.












After eating some delicious fish, taking pictures, flirting with some bule, (hehehe) we went to snorkel near Gosong Island

He said, "Don't take my picture, please" :D

After paying all the things, we went to Karimun Jawa harbor.

The ship would go at 08.00 am

At 02.00 pm we were in Jepara, then we were ready to go to Yogya.

We spent about 9 hours to come in Yogyakarta. The traffic jam was very bad.

Additional note for those who want to go by motorcycle.

• Bensin : Rp50.000
• home stay: Rp20.000 x 3 days = Rp60.000
• Ship tickets : Rp66.0000 x 2 = 132.000
• food : this must be more than Rp300.000
• souvenir : about Rp100.000

In my accumulation I spent about Rp700.000-800.000
This may be different with yours. I think you can be cheaper.
But do not get very afraid about the money. You will see paradise there.

We are growing old. sometimes we should forget about the price tag, let's see the world, get new experiences, and enjoy our life.

Catatan Perjalanan ke Karimun Jawa

"We grow old . . To see the world is what we should do"

 

I get very excited whenever I go to new places, for I know that I will meet new people, do new experiences, and learn many things. At this moment, let me share you my latest trip. Recently, I went to Karimun Jawa, one of very wonderful islands in Indonesia. I should say that the trip was a very crazy and spontaneous trip, but as we know that sometimes a crazy and spontaneous trip can be very wonderful and unforgettable.

I hope that this note can be useful for those who want to go to the place. Karimun Jawa is a place where you can feel paradise. Get doubt? Let you go to the place.

I should note that I did not do this trip by spending money in a travel agent. If you do the trip by buying a ticket from a travel agent, your story may be different.

12 April 2014

After preparing all of the things we would need, my four friends and I started our trip at 00.00 Am. We started our trip from Paingan. At the beginning of the trip I was not really sure to start the trip, for I had been fallen from my motorcycle. But, my thought said, "Just do it dude".

We used three motorcycles. I did not allow the others to ride my crazy motorcycle. It would be dangerous to let others ride it, for it was very unique motorcycle. :D
The route was Yogyakarta -> Magelang -> Semarang -> Demak -> Jepara.

At 04.30 AM we got in Semarang. After taking a rest, we did the trip again. When I came in Demak, I got an unforgettable experience. When I was ridding, an old man was ridding his motorcycle fast, he looked at me and waved his hand. At the beginning I thought that he said, "You are very good dude, because you broke the rule-passing a wrong way-".

Getting a little bit of anger, I got closer to the motorcycle, looked to his face impolitely, and got my motorcycle faster. What happened then? The I realized that he did not threaten me, maybe he just wanted to say "Hi". His motorcycle had a same sign with me.

At 05.00 AM we got in Demak.

Passing the way in Demak needed a great effort. The road was bad, because it was being fixed.
But, my dream to go to Karimun Jawa was bigger than this difficulty. I kept going dude!

At 06.30 AM we were in Jepara. After having breakfast in Jepara harbor, we bought tickets. A ship to Karimun Jawa would go at 09.00 AM, so we still had time for taking a rest.

Actually if we bought an express ticket, we only spent 2 hours to come in Karimun Jawa, but we decided to buy the cheap one. I spent Rp.66.000,00,- to be in the ship.

At 01.00 PM we were in Karimun Jawa. Ah That's was the very best moment in my life!

After coming in Karimun, we went to some home stays. We got the right one. We used the room for five people. For each people we only spent Rp20.000,00-, in one night.

13 April 2014

Today we would go to east. In a small ship there were 11 passengers and 4 tour guides. The sea made me feel very excited!

Then, we took a rest in a island- I forgot the name- :D

After eating some delicious grille fish, we did snorkeling again beside Kecil island.

We did snorkeling about one hour, then we went to sharks' captivity.

Weekend dan Nanam di lereng Sindoro

Hari ini kita habiskan hari dengan menanami kembali lereng Sindoro. sebenarnya hati sedih karena pada kenyataannya beberapa kali penanaman di sana seperti sia-sia. beberapa bibit yang ditanam malah diambil warga yang tidak bertanggung jawab, dan beberapa bibit malah mati.

Tapi orang orang ini tetap punya semangat untuk terus menanam.

Dari ratusan bibit yang pernah ditanaman, tersisa 24-25 bibit yang masih tersisa. bibit yang masih tersisa ialah kayu putih dan pinus. Setelah membersihkan, mengemburkan tanah di sekitar tanaman, kami menambah beberapa bibit Khemar. Menurut Mas Slamet-salah satu warga yang selalu menyediakan rumahnya untuk ditinggali- bibit Khemar ini sangat cocok ditanam di lereng Sindoro, karena selain baik untuk menambah hijau alam, pohon itu juga nanti akan memberikan keuntungan ekonomis.

Semoga beberapa bulan lagi bisa membawa banyak teman untuk turut mengembalikan kelestarian alam di sana. Amin

Local Languages or Being Illiterate

            Nowadays our local languages are going to die. I do not hate Bahasa and English. I do love them all; the fact is that I write this article in English. As an Indonesian I cannot also deny that English is the international language and Bahasa is Indonesian main language. But we have to consider that the fact is some of our local languages died. I am proud to be an Indonesian, because my country, Indonesia, has a lot of beautiful cultures. On the other hand, I must be sad to know that some of Indonesians do not really care about the local languages.

            Many parents and educators tend to let our children become illiterate in the local language. The children are speaking English and Bahasa, because there is no way to speak local languages. Homes and schools do not facilitate it. It is different from Bahasa and English who are being taught in schools. Our government has to pay attention to this problem. They have to put the local languages into classrooms as a subject. They should put the languages in the primary schools, because it will build the basic of language.

            Some people said that it was not useful to put the languages in the classroom, especially for those who were not from the place where the local languages were taught. But, let me show you that putting local languages in primary school is useful. They are very useful, because the local languages will connect humans with their identity, preserve culture, and create a new study style that increase the human intelligence.

            Firstly, putting local languages in the classroom will help to preserve the beautiful Indonesia culture.  Indonesia is dangerously beautiful with the 700 local languages. But the beauty is going to go away from Indonesia. Kemandgri in their website wrote that 15 local languages died, 169 local languages are going to lose. I have interviewed some of my friends. They said; “Putting local languages in the classroom is not useful for the people who do not come from the place where the local languages belong to. I think that it is a wrong opinion. Let us think about this. If we learn other languages we can interact well with the people. We also know their cultures. If you think that other languages do not give useful things to you, I suggest that you should stop to be selfish. If we always think about the advantages for ourselves, we will forget others. Their culture must also keep alive. How? Let us put the local languages in the classroom. If the local languages become a subject in the classroom, Indonesian children can know their local languages and also preserve the languages. So, Indonesia will stay beautiful with their many local languages.

            Secondly, our local languages connect us with our society and identity. The local languages are the same with English that connects us with the society. So the question is “Why should we put the local languages in the classroom? Why do not we just study English, because English gives us the wider relationship?” I answer. We have to put the local languages in primary schools, because the languages do not only connect us with the society, but it also connects us with our identity. Hurisa Guvercin said that one of the important things that connect a child with the parents is the verbal language. He added that a child will identify himself with the language and the culture he knows the best. With local languages we join in a relationship with our parents, family, tribe, and our nation. If a person does not know his culture, he will lose his confident in the culture. If he loses his confident, he will also lose his tie with the society slowly.What does make studying local languages is different with studying English? That is also because English is not our culture. Who we are can be found in our local languages. There are our cultures and ties with our family.

The last reason is that putting local languages as a subject and the spoken language in the classroom will create a new study style that increases students’ intelligence. Local languages in the classroom give a lot of fun things that will not experience outside the class, such as reading and writing in their local languages. Some research did a study that involved fifteen Italian interpreters who were working for the European Union and translating in English and Italian. They are all fluent in English. The study said that native language made their brains’ waves had much higher amplitude. It means that native languages make people absorb things easier.  A study in Diembering also gave us a reason to put local languages in the classroom. The study said; “11 out of 18 students who were using mother tongue in all lessons passed their exams. In the two classes using French for instruction, only two and four students respectively out of 20 passed. Some people say that it will be more expensive to translate the local languages into books. But I think we have to do this, if we want our students do not get frustrated in studying. There are more intelligent students, because they do not only study but they learn fun.

Finally, I am proud to say that there is no reason to avoid putting local languages in the classroom. The fact is that local languages are the best way to connect a human with the identity and society, preserve the beautiful Indonesian culture, and create a fun and smart study style. So, I suggest that government should put the languages in the classroom. There is no time to wait. We have to do it now, before there are more local languages die, more people lose their ties with their culture, and more bored students in Indonesia.
